"Carleton helped me build on my strengths while learning from peers with different perspectives and skill sets. The hands-on projects and collaborative work throughout the program pushed me to grow and develop new abilities. I graduated not just with sharper skills but with a lot more confidence in what I can do. I’m now working in my area of expertise, but the lessons I learned from classmates and professors still shape how I approach challenges every day."

Three memories stand out from Journalism: hauling a heavy camera and tripod on the bus, editing late into the night for our broadcast project, and misspelling a professor’s name on an internship application, which cost me the role. I’ve never made that mistake again.

Some vivid memories of journalism school include hauling cameras across the city in winter, though the best memories are tied to classmates. Learning beside them, and from them, made the whole experience rewarding, challenging, and surprisingly fun from start to finish.

When I think of j-school, I think of my friendship with Meg Stoudt. She was a rock in a tough program and always good for a laugh. We are still close today, sharing milestones like her wedding, and I still smile remembering road trips and snowstorms we barely navigated.
